We often get enquiries about our sodium nickel chloride battery with invertor and all wiring and configuration in our plug and play Quantum
unit. It is the ideal battery for anyone looking for energy independence as it is much more reliable than many of the other current battery technologies available. The SoNick battery does not have any toxic materials, either in its production or use. It does not have any of the safety concerns inherent in many other batteries as it is a sodium and nickel based battery which are both non-toxic, non-flammable and abundantly available. There is no possibility of thermal runaway with the SoNick battery due to its components being basically molten salt. This is particularly important in any areas that may be prone to bushfire risk.

There are many things to take into consideration when arranging a PV and storage system that would be needed before giving a quote to determine the best size of both the PV and storage components.
- We would need to know your current electricity consumption that would be taken from your previous electricity bills. This will determine the size of the overall system needed.
- What time of the day is your electricity used, i.e. is it used during the day or mainly at night? This will determine the size of the storage system. If your power is used during both day and night, generally the storage component will be smaller as during the day you will be using power straight from your PV panels. If your power is used mostly at night you will need more storage to capture all the electricity being generated by your PV during the day so that you can use it at night. This means that instead of exporting whatever your PV produces to the grid during the day and getting 5 or 6 cents for it you will save yourself somewhere between 25 cents and 40 cents, depending on your current electricity rate, paying for your usage at night.
- What appliances do you have running and when? If you have appliances that draw heavy loads, like air conditioners, washing machines or dryers you will need more storage to allow for this. It is best if you use these appliances during the day and they can come straight from the PV array.
- How long do you want your storage to cover you for? If you only want a couple of hours at night you will need a smaller system than if you want to be covered all night and for some time if the power goes down.
- Do you just want to move some of your power so it can be used at night or do you want energy independence if the grid goes down? You will need a bigger storage system if you want energy independence and it will depend on whether you just want a few hours or a few days.
For a PV kW array there will be many factors that can affect this price depending on where the array is to be installed.
- Is it single or double story?
- Is it a house or a unit?
- Is it a Tin or Tile roof?
- Does the electricity meter or wiring need upgraded?
- What direction does the roof face?
- What is the pitch of the roof?
- Do you want quality products that will last or are you only looking at price?
